Here’s how to stop judging and start experiencing that’s so relatable!

Arnie Kozak wrote a relatable article called “Enjoy the View—Not the Commentary”

He sets the scene that we can all relate to at some point in our lives…

“I am standing on top of an overlook in the foothills of the Green Mountains. I can see a 180-degree vista to the West that features the Adirondacks, tinged in pink, as the sun gets ready to set. Vermont’s famous Camel’s Hump sits majestically to the south. My mind, however, is not appreciating this beautiful experience, at least not consistently so, because I am frustrated and disappointed in myself. I want to get some pictures of this awesome scene, but I have forgotten my phone and thus have no camera.”

He highlights how our minds often engage in constant commentary, judging or embellishing experiences. With practice, you can learn to quiet this mind chatter, allowing for a more meaningful connection to the experience. It’s not easy to do, but it’s soooooo worth the effort!

Why 'Back to School' Has a Whole New Meaning for me. 🍎

My career has been anything but a straight path - and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

The twists and turns have led me to opportunities I never imagined possible.

I've navigated both growth and financial crises in the media business, built and sold a business on Amazon, took a tech startup from the napkin to partnering with one of Canada's largest publishing companies, and even managed a health & wellness manufacturing company through a global pandemic. It's been quite the ride. 🎢

But perhaps the biggest challenge was going back to university in my forties to earn a Masters Degree in Global Business Management. Who remembers how to write in APA Style?!!

I leaned on a lot of my friends and drank copious amounts of coffee to get through it because I knew that supporting tomorrow’s business leaders was in my future - and a Master’s Degree was a key step to achieving my goal.

I’m excited to announce that I’m now channeling all this collective experience into three areas: fractional leadership, executive coaching, and teaching the next generation of business leaders at Okanagan School of Business.

I'm thrilled to be working alongside some of the greatest  - Kyleen Myrah, Manik D., Aidan Cole, Laura Thurnheer, MBA, CPHR , Caroline Gilchrist and many more that I'll meet on my academic journey.

It's never too late to reinvent yourself and your career. Embrace the journey my LinkedIn friends - new opportunities await at every stage of life!
