Highlights
Last weekend I had the honor of hosting Senator Kirsten Gillibrand at my home, in conversation with Chamber of Mothers CEO Erin Erenberg. Senator Gillibrand shared insights into some of the most important issues facing women, mothers, and families across the country, and an overview on legislation in the works that could truly change lives. The conversation was inspiring and Senator Gillibrand's dedication to this work is incredible.
One key takeaway that's broadly applicable: women have unique lived experiences. This shapes the issues we care about, the companies we found, how we invest, how we lead, the laws we write, and more. We need women shaping policy, running companies, and in positions of power. We need diverse voices around a table. Different perspectives create value. I'm lucky to see this and live this every day at Mother Ventures.
Last year I joined the board of Chamber of Mothers, a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization uniting mothers as advocates to create a better America. Through our local chapters, federal advocacy, and community-building, we strive to create a country where all mothers can thrive, with a specific focus on paid family leave, affordable child care, and maternal health. I have been blown away by the team, their work, passion, and impact. Please let me know if you're interested in learning more, partnering, or donating to the organization.
Thank you to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Erin Erenberg, Ravi Reddi, Deshi S., Lauren Smith Brody, Raena Boston, Jacqueline Blatt, Stephanie Roberson; and to Debra Bednar-Clark, Marissa Ash, Sarah Lederman, Laurie Zucker, Kelly Fradin, MD, Megan Cunningham, Seema Bajaj, Hina Talib, MD, Sophie Altchek, Lauren Egna, Marisa Silver and the entire group for joining the conversation and supporting the Chamber of Mothers mission.
