Alma Acosta

Special Assistant to the President

Alma Acosta is a seasoned professional with a strong background in public service, currently serving as the Special Assistant to the President in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs.

With extensive experience in government and community engagement, Acosta previously held the position of Executive Director at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) from 2017 to 2022, working closely with key stakeholders to advance CHC priorities and achieve significant legislative victories.

Her achievements at CHC include the introduction of the Health Equity and Accountability Act, the passage of the National Museum of the American Latino Act, and legislation aimed at protecting Dreamers, TPS-holders, and farmworkers.

Beyond her professional roles, Acosta has demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering diversity and supporting aspiring leaders through initiatives like the political appointee webinar series and resume bank, which have made a tangible impact on increasing diversity within the federal government.

Alma Acosta's educational background includes a Master's degree in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University-Long Beach.
