Bio / Experience Narrative:

As a 2x founder and consultant, I have experienced working with teams in a variety of industries and roles. My first role as co-founder and COO of Spylight provided learning opportunities in business fundamentals: team building, fundraising, stakeholder relations, operations, marketing, business development, scaling & strategy. Through 6 years of operation, Spylight’s highlights include raising over $4M, negotiating contracts with major studios like Paramount and Fox, & acquisition in late 2017 by SPOTT.

I continued my professional growth through consulting projects & continued efforts in the Insect Industry. This fascinating marketing challenge - how to open minds (& mouths) to the idea of a better food/feed system fueled by insects - has transformed from a hobby to a life-long dedication. As a public speaker and subject-matter expert, I work with stakeholders & game-changers of all types.

I volunteered leading Marketing & Communications for our trade organization (NACIA). My next priority became creating the first funding vehicles to specifically support companies in the Insect Industry. Meanwhile, I led product at a digital company women's sexuality (day job).

Recently (2021), I've teamed up with my idols from the insect industry to launch the largest effort to integrate insect technology into the existing food/feed production systems across the globe through BSFL project development. Finalizing fundraising & PR for launch.

I eat bugs but you don’t have to. I want to spread the word about how insects should be fed to chickens and fish. Bug poop should be used instead of synthetic fertilizers.

This change will solve many sustainability challenges facing agriculture.

Invest in insects.

Dear Governor DeSantis,

You use harmful rhetoric to incite division. My guess is it’s because you’re ignorant, or paid by companies that stand to lose a lot of money when nature-based farming practices let farmers do more with less. Please stop spreading conspiracy theories about some evil plan to get Americans to eat bugs.

I eat bugs. I don’t care if Americans eat bugs. I do it because it’s scandalous and gets attention. I’m working to raise awareness about how insects are a keystone species - meaning ecosystems collapse without them. Modern agriculture has scaled up crops and livestock, but left out nature’s soil health stewards, waste clean up crew, and animal feed producers: insects.

Restoring insects to food systems (NOT NECESSARILY FEEDING THEM TO AMERICANS) will solve many of our biggest challenges. Insects represent a low-to-no cost solution on a small-scale farm. Feed organic waste to bugs, feed those bugs to chickens, and use their manure for crops.

This is threatening to companies that stand to lose a lot of MONEY when fewer chemical fertilizers are needed. When fewer orders of pelletized corn/soy are ordered. Because insects can provide better alternatives.
