Highlights
January 30th is World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Day! Deloitte recognizes and applauds accomplishments of the 11 West African countries supported by USAID’s Act to End NTDs | West (Act | West) project. Sustaining NTD services is critical for countries to maintain and expand NTD control and elimination successes. Since 2018, 9 of 11 countries have developed NTDs sustainability plans. In 2023, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso politically validated their NTD sustainability plans, joining 6 other countries supported by Act | West. These plans reinforce country commitments to sustain NTD services by mainstreaming NTDs into routine health service platforms and supply chains, optimizing domestic resources, strengthening multi-sectoral coordination, integrating NTDs into national and sub-national policies, and strengthening data management and surveillance by integrating NTD data and indicators into national health information systems.
