Outside of my life engineering products in tech, I’m also a celebrity-commissioned visual artist. Last week my painting, “A World Honoring a Hero”, made its national debut on #GoodMorningAmerica in #TimesSquare (my hometown)

Working with #GRAMMY Award-Winning music icon Jose Feliciano on this project, during this time, made me proud as a Black Latina

Feliciano was the first to stylize the Star-Spangled Banner in 1968 at the World Series in Detroit. He received backlash as the civil and political climate in America was tense. I was commissioned to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this moment

Feliciano has gone on to win 9 #GRAMMY Awards, 19 GRAMMY nominations, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and has been awarded over 45 Gold + Platinum records

The painting features a young Jose performing in Amsterdam in the 70’s. There are 13 broken abstract red and white stripes to symbolize the history of our country. Instead of the typical 50 stars, the painting features 51 stars, one for Puerto Rico where Jose is from.

The 72 x 39 in painting is on a restored cargo shipment from Twentieth Century Fox and is also part of Feliciano’s upcoming documentary, “Behind His Guitar”
