Highlights
Throwing it back to my freshman summer! I learned so much at Holberg Financial, a FinEdTech company. This was my first internship away from home and living alone, in the grand city of Chicago. My job was to source for-profit tech companies in Series A - E rounds who want to improve their #EmployeeRetention initiatives.
So, selling a product is hard. But, selling an idea or buying into a story is much easier. Our #FinancialWellness platform & certified coaches were not just products and services. They catered to a quality system of how you can save to pay off student loans, buy a car, or even risk analysis of building a stock portfolio.
In a startup ecosystem, it’s ever-changing. I had to work proactively and efficiently - be flexible and adaptable. For 1871, who houses over 500+ companies, the next day was always different than the last.
Most importantly, I learned to ask questions + ask for help. It’s not easy to admit you don’t know something, but creating diversity of thought discussions and gaining new perspectives is all about building the growth that you will achieve.
I am forever grateful for Joseph Holberg, Taylor G., Cody Puckett, and Colin Shevlin, for mentoring and teaching me what can only be learned by doing.
