Couldn't agree more -

“Data should be used to understand the consumer more. The question should always be ‘What does the data tell us?’ not ‘What is the data?’ Data is amazing, and we can understand our customers a lot better because of it. Data is a tool that enables marketing, and it shouldn’t be the tool that defines marketing. Unfortunately, because of this, the easiest way to create more, is by standardising and using templates. Yes, it’s a lazy way to create ads, but it’s also the easiest for some time and resource starved teams.”

Also, I feel that sometimes, it's also because the lack of having the courage to fill in the gap that data couldn't answer. It makes us rely on data even more, as though data will explain every nuance, desire and emotion in people's life. And creativity is subjective that sometimes we want to feel secure with a reference of data because data proves that everyone agrees with it. Hence, the room of interpretation of the data available becomes void unless there are more data to support the interpretation. And there goes the whole data reliance and cycle, I guess.
