This month, Read Ahead is hosting a Read-A-Thon to raise money for our organization. Read Ahead is a nonprofit volunteer organization that connects hundreds of emerging readers at NYC public elementary schools with young professionals through a weekly 1x1 mentorship/reading program that I volunteer at through Oak Hill Advisors, L.P.
The organization empowers public elementary school students, who still face a lasting impact from COVID in many different ways: under-resourced schools, educator / overall staffing shortages, and larger class sizes. Over the last few years, I have worked as a volunteer at Read Ahead, a reading-based mentoring program for under-resourced public elementary schools in NYC.
