Amba Kak

Executive Director, AI Now Institute

Amba Kak is a Senior Advisor on AI at the FTC, currently detailed to the AI Now Institute. Additionally, she serves as a Senior Research Scholar at Northeastern University's Khoury College, while also participating in the program committee at Mozilla Foundation.

Educationally, Amba holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Master of Science in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford, as well as a Bachelor of Laws from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences.

Throughout her career, Amba has been associated with prestigious organizations in various capacities. She has served as a Board Member at Signal Messenger, Executive Director at AI Now Institute at NYU, Senior Fellow at Khoury College of Computer Sciences, and Advisor at Mozilla, among others.

Her previous roles include being the Director of Global Policy & Programs at AI Now Institute at NYU, Senior Advisor on Artificial Intelligence at the FTC, Fellow at NYU School of Law, and Legal Consultant at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy in New Delhi.

Amba Kak has also contributed as a Technology Policy Fellow and Public Policy Advisor at Mozilla, a Summer Associate at Allen & Overy LLP, and a Google Policy Fellow at the Centre for Internet and Society.

With a diverse educational background and a wealth of experience in AI, policy, and technology, Amba Kak continues to make significant contributions to the field.
