I'm a typical female and I'm soft-spoken. I used to bake cupcakes at home and bring them to the office to "bribe" my colleagues. And at every meeting I hosted, I always made sure there's something sweet on the table. It made people more open to listening to me and collaborating with me.
But somehow it feels wrong to say that openly, because that feeds a gender stereotype. I am stereotypical.
If I were not a typical female, I probably would not have had the instinct to bring people on my side with such a simple gesture. I would believe that people only judge me based on my knowledge and competence. I would also believe that concensus is always driven by well-structured PowerPoint slides, and decisions are made entirely based on logic and facts.
But thankfully, I am a typical female, and I know instinctively that, when people ate my cupcakes, they couldn't help but being nicer to me. I also know that, sweets put people in a good mood and make them less argumentative. I didn't need to be a neuroscientist to understand the dopamine effect.
You can say that I am playing into the gender stereotype, but I choose to think that I'm embracing my superpower, and if that means putting on an apron and mixing cake batter in the kitchen every once in a while, it still beats yelling and shouting over each other in meeting rooms.

Can someone tell me if this is a mock piece or fake news? I mean, this guy cannot be serious. 😂
[BMW Chairman] Zipse says. “You could argue, well you also don’t have access to hydrogen infrastructure, but this is very simple to do: It’s a tank which you put in there like an old [gas] tank, and you recharge it every six months or 12 months.”
If this were true, then title should read: BMW Boss Single-handedly Solves Long-term Energy Storage Problem 🤔
