Commitment + Community = Change

Annual Reception for Hospital For Hope (http://hospitalforhope.org) capping at 100 people over hors d'oeuvres Sat Sep 14, 5-7pm at the Los Altos Community Center 97 Hillview Ave, Los Altos, CA, USA

During college a group of us volunteered in villages on the other side of the world. None of us were born or raised anywhere nearby, all of us felt the need to do something. Crowd-funding became our answer before it became a common word. A local organization, on the ground for 50 years and among other things running 10 schools, became our partners.

Alongside them, we helped build a library, a high school lab and eventually a hospital serving a community of 100,000 people. Since then projects have included improving water and energy (through solar panels), achieving a 100% model (everything raised goes to the people on the ground) and opening a dentistry clinic run by an alumnus of the local schools. Our core team of five are all unpaid volunteers with their own careers and families, working together for over two decades.

Now in the Hospital's 11th year of operation, we are continuing a tradition of congregating and celebrating other dreamer-doers, especially within Silicon Valley. Many thanks to the hundreds that have joined previous events and to the thousands that have supported. RSVP at https://lnkd.in/ghqif9tX.

Ordinary people together can do extraordinary things. A bit more of the story at https://lnkd.in/bMQtXKe.
