Amy Kristin Sanders is an award-winning former journalist, licensed attorney, and associate professor in the School of Journalism and Media with a courtesy appointment at the School of Law at the University of Texas at Austin.

Sanders has an extensive background in teaching and research, with a focus on international and comparative media law and ethics, including freedom of expression, access to information, government transparency, freedom of speech, and social media.

Her work has been published in prestigious law reviews and mass communication journals, and she has received research grants, including from the National Science Foundation. Sanders is also a co-author of the well-known law school casebook 'First Amendment and the Fourth Estate: The Law of Mass Media.'

In addition to her academic endeavors, Sanders is actively involved with the Student Press Law Center as a Board of Directors member, advocating for First Amendment rights of student journalists and advisers.

Sanders also has a strong presence in the professional world, offering her expertise as an expert witness and consultant to Fortune 500 companies on media law and ethics issues. She has provided counsel to international governments and law firms on regulatory matters, policy development, and pending litigation.

With a solid journalistic background working for the Gainesville Sun, a New York Times Co. newspaper, Sanders brings a unique blend of practical experience and academic knowledge to her various roles.

Amy Kristin Sanders holds a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Florida, a Juris Doctorate with an emphasis in First Amendment law, and a Master's in Professional Journalism from the University of Iowa. She completed her undergraduate studies in Journalism and Justice Systems at Truman State University.
