Amy Scharf

Amy Scharf, an accomplished leader in educational equity, inclusion, diversity, and justice, brings over 20 years of experience in various sectors including higher education, K-12, and nonprofits.

Currently serving as the Director of Faculty and Departmental Diversity Initiatives at UC Berkeley, Amy leads initiatives focusing on equity, inclusion planning, faculty diversity, and workshops on equity and justice for faculty, staff, and students.

Amy has a strong background directing state and national programs centered on cultural competence, multicultural education, anti-bias education, and educational transformation, and she emphasizes the importance of diverse perspectives, collaborative inquiry, and open conversations.

She holds a B.A. in Religion/Philosophy from Princeton University and a PhD in Social and Cultural Studies in Education from the University of California, Berkeley.

Throughout her career, Amy has held various key roles including Adjunct Faculty at Saint Mary's College of California, Consultant in Education Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice, National Program Director at GroundSpark - Respect For All Project, Program Director at California Tomorrow, Graduate Student Researcher and Instructor at UC Berkeley School of Education, and Classroom Teacher for 4th to 6th grades.
