Almost three years ago today, I was diagnosed with Systemic Sclerosis (Scleroderma). This is a relatively rare autoimmune disorder that mostly affects women. I am one of the approximately 20% of Scleroderma warriors who are men. Over the last three years, I have had to undergo quite a treatment regimen just to stay alive. Over the last couple of years, I have been active as a member of the board of the Scleroderma Association of BC and have been working hard to help increase awareness of and research into causes and treatments for Scleroderma.
