GITEX Africa 2024: Elevating Developer Education and Empowerment

Visiting Morocco for GITEX Africa 2024 was an exhilarating experience that I’ll cherish for a long time. I was eager to see the development and growth of the region since my last trip which was almost 20 years ago! I was once again captivated by the vibrant culture, exquisite cuisine, and warm hospitality of the Moroccan people. The beauty of the country, combined with the energy of the events and people I met, made this trip unforgettable. The first few days, we participated in the events hosted by Department of State's Office of Global Partnerships’ Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship (CCE) events. One of which, we had the pleasure of meeting with the US Ambassador in Morocco, Puneet Talwar. As one of many U.S. Dept. of State's private sector development initiatives in Africa, the CCE event showcased the work of climate-focused, early-stage startups contributing to Africa’s green economy. These entrepreneurs were recognized for their ingenuity and impact and had the opportunity to connect with potential investors. At Arm, one of our goals is to empower developers worldwide with resources and support needed to create Arm-native Windows apps for Arm devices. This was brought to life in Morocco at UM6P - AFRICA INITIATIVE. I had the great opportunity to visit the 1337 Coding School, where Arm is supporting the future of tech through our #ArmDeveloperProgram. I witnessed over 200 students participating in a workshop lead by our incredible Arm Ambassadors. I was taken back by the sheer dedication of the Arm Ambassadors and the level of engagement of these students. GITEX AFRICA is the world’s largest, most inclusive tech & startup event outside of UAE that's hosted by it's parent organization #GITEXGlobal. Our mission to advance developer education reached new heights as we engaged with over 2,000 developers through interactive workshops, insightful talks, learning path content, and our dynamic developer booth. A big thank you to Shola Akinrolie for the incredible work with facilitating and managing the event. Our incredible Arm Ambassadors, Gabriel Chouchane, Peter Ing, Mehdi Charouh, OUMAIMA FISAOUI spoke with conference attendees about the capabilities of developing on Windows on Arm and more. The live demonstrations highlighted the advantages of Arm-native platforms, showing how developers can build more efficient and cutting-edge software. The Windows on Arm ecosystem continues to grow! My colleague, Stephen Ozoigbo participated in multiple panel sessions discussing Arm's dedication to empowering new communities, working to create opportunities for a broader impact. He is the key driver in making many of the greater purpose initiatives happen. Thank you for all you do! Lastly, it was an honor to meet leaders that inspire greatness-Thomas D., Avery Rodriguez, Jen Cole, Yordanos A., Salima Amira, Mohamed Mikou, Lillian Barnard, Kunle Awosika, & Arm Ambassadors
