โ๏ธ BALANCING WORK & MOTHERHOOD ๐ถ๐ป
We recently hosted an inspiring session in our EmpowerHER Series: โBalancing Work & Motherhood,โ organized by the Women@HubSpot ERG. The panel, featured Ke Jin Lim, Rachel Chia, and Arti Sharma, who shared their personal journeysโdiscussing everything from planning a family while managing KPI-driven roles to the challenges of returning to work after maternity leave and how they navigated these transitions.
As a non-parent and a man, itโs hard for me to fully grasp the complexities of balancing work and motherhood. However, sessions like these are crucial for expanding our understanding. A significant part of our work on the DI&B team is centered around advocacy and education, providing opportunities for HubSpotters to learn about experiences they might not encounter firsthand.

Iโm grateful for opportunities like this to learn from the real-life experiences of others. It helps us develop greater empathy and equips us to better support our coworkers through their own transitions.
A heartfelt thank you to Janice Tay and Anna T., our incredible Women@HubSpot ERG Leaders, for organizing such a meaningful panel and creating a safe space for us to learn and be inspired.

๐A MILESTONE FOR โค๏ธ IN SINGAPORE๐
We are super thrilled that our recent wedding in Singapore was featured in Mothership, arguably Singaporeโs biggest media outlet. What truly surprised us was the positive light in which our story was sharedโwithout any negativity or backlash๐ฅน
This is something we never expected to see in Singaporeโs mainstream media, and we are genuinely touched by this progressive step.
๐This feature is more than just a personal victory; itโs a reflection of how far weโve come as a nation on the subject of love and acceptance.
โ๐While itโs heartening to see such progress, itโs important to recognize that same-sex couples still cannot legally marry in Singapore today. This reality makes it incredibly challenging to hold a wedding here. Many of us often find ourselves unsure of where to start, which vendors to engage, and whether they will treat us with respect. Safety is another concern thatโs always on our minds.
๐Beyond logistics, there are also the internal strugglesโemotions of shame, fear, and doubt that we impose on ourselves, often questioning if we deserve to celebrate our love openly.
๐กThis is why seeing our story shared so positively is a huge deal for us, and perhaps a small step forward for our community. It serves as a reminder that, while we still have a long way to go, progress is being madeโone story at a time.
To everyone who has supported us along the way, thank you. Your love and acceptance mean the world to us๐๐ฉท
