There are few stakes in the sand I will take as an operator turned investor -- and they're all predicated on what I know to be true, and what I know best.

  1. The top executors are the ones who understand how to time the market, swiftly determine product:market fit, and are relentless in their pursuit of driving the ball forward.
  2. Pulling data on private company investments at a granular level is hard and error prone, unless you remove the manual labor aspect of it.
  3. Build sticky products with recurring revenue that provide topline value, and anything transactional should be treated as expansion and the cherry on top.
  4. Relentlessly hire the best people from your past lives. Do so shamelessly.
  5. Take the W when there's a clear fit.

The team at Aumni make me humbled to sit where I am. The founders and extended team are what make it fun for me to continue democratizing private company data and invest in the hardest working yet kindest people. So many kudos to Tony Lewis, Kelsey C., Rob Wise, Frank Amoroso, Benjamin Tobin, Alex Owens-Baird, Aasim Hasan, Sabya Das and countless others who became confidantes and friends through the years as we built this dream team.
