Andrea Montanari is a distinguished academic serving as the Robert and Barbara Kleist Professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford University. He also holds positions as a Professor in Statistics and Mathematics through courtesy affiliations.

With a strong educational background, Andrea earned a Laurea degree in Physics in 1997 and a subsequent Ph.D. in Physics in 2001 from Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. He further enriched his expertise by working as a post-doctoral fellow at reputable institutions like Laboratoire de Physique Théorique de l'Ecole Normale Supérieure (LPTENS) in Paris, France, and the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley, USA.

Throughout his career, Andrea Montanari has been recognized with prestigious awards that include the CNRS bronze medal for theoretical physics in 2006, the National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2008, the Okawa Foundation Research Grant in 2013, the James L. Massey Award of the Information Theory Society in 2016, and the Le Cam Prize of the French Statistical Society in 2020.

In addition to these honors, he has also received accolades such as the ACM SIGMETRICS best paper award in 2008 and the Applied Probability Society Best Publication Award in 2015. Notably, he was appointed as an IEEE Fellow in 2017 and an IMS Fellow in 2020, showcasing his leadership and contributions to the field.

An accomplished scholar, Andrea has made significant contributions to various areas of research, specializing in Statistical learning, Graphical models, Coding theory, iterative coding schemes, Combinatorial structures, and optimization.
