Andrew Gunther is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in applying science to environmental policy. His diverse background includes roles as a consulting scientist, legislative staff member, and policy advocate.

Dr. Gunther has made significant contributions to environmental efforts, having served as the Assistant Chief Scientist for the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Restoration Program, managed groundbreaking programs for measuring toxic pollution in San Francisco Bay, and assisted in the restoration of steelhead trout populations along California's coastline.

His recent position as the Executive Coordinator of the Bay Area Ecosystems Climate Change Consortium highlights his commitment to fostering collaborations between natural resource managers, scientists, and other stakeholders to address climate change challenges impacting Bay Area ecosystems and communities.

In addition to his professional engagements, Andy actively advises organizations like the Regeneration Project and the Alliance for Climate Education, while also serving on the Board of Directors of the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Education-wise, Andrew Gunther holds a Ph.D. and an MS in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a BA in Biology from Amherst College.

His career journey has seen him involved in various capacities such as consulting through his self-employment, holding the Executive Director role at the Center for Ecosystem Management and Restoration, and co-founding Applied Marine Sciences.
