Highlights
Years ago, he had a tight budget & lean staff.
As a head coach at IU South Bend he:
- Cleaned the locker room
- Did the team's laundry
- Led marketing
- & more!
And since then, he’s also been an assistant coach at Butler, Purdue, & in the NBA — and a head coach at Penn State.
Now, he's the men's basketball head coach at Notre Dame.
I'm talking about Micah Shrewsberry.
And here's 5 powerful things I learned talking to him about leadership, coaching, & success 👇
- No task is beneath you
In college, Shrewsberry played D3 basketball — without a scholarship.
He even drove the team’s van to games.
“I don’t feel like anything is beneath me,” he says
- Invest in everyone
Every team is a mix of stars & role players.
But Shrewsberry has a plan for every player — and promises they ALL get 100% from him.
“Different players get different playing time, but I’m going to work everyone just as hard,” he says.
- You can’t catch every raindrop
That’s what a mentor told Shrewsberry...
Even great leaders can’t do it all — no matter how hard you try.
When you get stretched thin, prioritize activities that most directly impact your success.
- Don’t make promises you can’t keep
Shrewsberry never promises a player playing time or a certain role.
“How can I look the next person in the eye if I give you something you don’t earn," he says
Teams respect leaders who make everyone earn it
- Be yourself
Shrewsberry takes ideas & concepts from others & blends it to his own.
Don't try to be someone else.
After all, someone hired you — because they wanted YOU!

In our conversation, Jordan shares how he turned a passion for “tinkering” & a love for Legos into the world’s first 3D printed rocket.
We explore:
- Building companies
- Evolving your thinking
- Venture capital investing
- When to admit you're wrong
- How to give yourself a "head start"
- & more!
Our conversation is about entrepreneurship, innovation, & the power of following your passions!
