Highlights
I've always enjoyed coaching entrepreneurs and innovators. From a mindset perspective, they remind me of the elite athletes I worked with earlier in my career.
This insightful video by my talented friend, Shari Hughson, explores the mental traits essential for successful entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. Shari founded a Master's degree program in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Smith School of Business at Queen's University, so she's seen the difference between those who talk the walk and those who walk the walk!
Personality Traits of Entrepreneurs and Intrapreneurs
Successful entrepreneurs often have contrasting traits:
▫ Optimistic realists ▫ Calculated risk-takers ▫ Idea people who can execute
They are curious, adventurous, and simultaneously focused and self-motivated. An internal locus of control—believing the world presents solvable challenges—drives their success.
Entrepreneurs vs. Intrapreneurs
The main difference is risk tolerance. Entrepreneurs operate independently, without a safety net, while intrapreneurs innovate within an organization.
Identifying and Supporting Intrapreneurs
Intrapreneurs are curious, take on extra projects, and may become disengaged with repetitive work. Organizations can nurture them by offering mobility, inter-department collaboration, and non-traditional career paths, which align with their desire for new perspectives and challenges.

Education For All -- Can You Help?
I'm going to be sailing around the world in just over three months as part of the Clipper Round the World race.
My dream is to do so while profiling and supporting a cause that I've had the immense honour to be part of.
1 Million Teachers is addressing a global crisis -- there are millions of motivated young students around the world who are not accessing education because there simply are not the teachers to teach them.
The solution being implemented addresses three key opportunities:
Attract Develop pathways into the teaching profession using accessable and engaging rewards-based programs.
Train Combine universally valuable soft skill training with locally-approved curriculums to ensure strong, tangible learning outcomes for students.
Motivate Create passionate lifelong leaders using both intrinsic and extrinsic factors such as salary and community recognition.
What Needs to Happen
To profile 1 Million Teachers as a boat sponsor in the upcoming year long race, we are seeking a financial partner -- a corporation or philanthropist who believes that every child deserves access to education as a basic human right, and is looking for a systemic solution to invest in.
Through a USD $1million partnership and the resulting promotion offered by the Clipper Race, we will undertake a one year global fundraiser to make a huge dent in the teacher shortage.
1 Million Teachers has created an effective and highly efficient solution. Now, we need to put more fuel into the fire.
The vision depicted in this image will happen when you reach out and offer to be part of our mission.
Note: Partners can be silent or part of the year long activation.
Message me and we'll get to work.
