2020 has had too many lows not to celebrate the highs. I am honoured to have been selected as a Canada's Top 40 Under 40 recipient.
I’m extremely humbled to receive this distinction but also savvy enough to understand that the platform given to me by the devastating effect this pandemic has had on my industry may have had a little something to do with it. I had no choice but to publicly advocate for relief—on behalf of Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality and the industry at large. There were too many jobs on the line to simply sit back and wait for the aftermath. While I’m cautiously optimistic that O&B will be back on track in 2021, I won’t stop fighting until our vibrant community of restaurants is given the support we deserve.
As with any achievement, it wouldn't be possible without my supportive network of friends, my wonderful family and incredible wife, or the extraordinary people of O&B who delivered groceries under lockdown, donated meals to hospitals and shelters, planned virtual events for our clients, or trained staff on new health and safety procedures. I can’t thank you enough.
This recognition will forever remind me of this trying time and the opportunities and we created together in the face of it. Never give up, never surrender we shall endure and thrive again.
