🔍 How do you truly connect with your customers?

These three questions are key to building a strong CRM foundation: 1️⃣ How often do your customers purchase? 2️⃣ How much do they spend each time they buy? 3️⃣ How recently have they shopped?

Let’s break it down with some examples: 🚴‍♂️ Bicycles: Frequency: Every 4 years Spend: Over $1k per purchase Timing: Customers shop when they're seriously ready to buy (usually springtime)

🎵 Fans of an artist or band: Frequency: With new releases every couple years Spend: Below $100 per purchase Timing: Influenced by new releases

💽 Vinyl record collectors: Frequency: Monthly Spend: $100 to $200 per purchase Timing: Always shopping

Understanding these patterns helps you tailor your approach. If you’re unsure where to begin with CRM, start by meeting your customers where they’re at. Look at frequency, recency, and monetary factors. Got questions? Let’s chat! 💬

How do you sell out? If you manage a 10k run, charity bike ride, or even a world-class participation event like an Ironman or Unbound Gravel, your email list is your most important marketing tool. And if you've been running your event for a few years, you've got all the customers you need in your email list.

The first year the Trek CX Cup became a World Cup, we were getting close to race week and I said to our events lead: "We're going to sell out this year; how do we increase capacity for next year?"

And we did sell out. We increased capacity in year 2, and sold out again, and then a third time. And it was because we knew who the audience was and we were able to message them what was relevant to them. And then we applied the same strategy to other events.

How many people registered for your event this year were on your email list before signing up? How can you increase that? How do you sell out?
