Next Monday I am running the Boston Marathon, which will be my sixth and final World Major Marathon, having completed Berlin 22, Chicago 22, New York 22, Tokyo 23 and London 23. I am raising money for 2 great causes - The North London Hospice and The Bookmark Reading Charity
The North London Hospice supports more than 3,500 people with a life-limiting illness each year. They are committed to providing the best of life, at the end of life, for everyone. Their services are given free of charge to all those in need and the hospice relies on donations to raise most of the £15 million that is needed to keep it running every year.
Bookmark is a literacy charity with a mission to help children develop the reading skills they need to succeed in school and beyond, through our flexible volunteer-led programme.
It is a shocking statistic that even in a normal year, an average of eight children in a class leave primary school unable to read well. These children often struggle for the rest of their lives. Poor literacy can lead to limited job prospects, poor health, low self-esteem, and reduced life expectancy. With your support, we can help as many children as possible build the futures they deserve.
