Many people ask me what it's like to share a startup journey with my wife and co-founder while raising 2 young boys. Well, here is a glimpse from last week:
After picking up our boys from school, we headed to Adelaide’s Stone & Chalk startup hub. We tuned into a live stream from Sydney and watched Summer Petrosius accept the 2nd Prize for Australia’s National AI Sprint! 🏆
It’s incredible to witness how advancements in robotics and AI are paving the way for a future of abundant goods and services. At Kindship, we continually ask ourselves: how can we harness this opportunity for our families living with disabilities? Our answer is – “Barb.”
While building one of Australia’s largest disability parenting communities, we’ve learned a lot about the needs and wants of our families. Late last year, we co-designed and launched a minimum lovable product – “Barb,” our AI assistant for Disability Care Navigation. Think of her as Siri, but specifically for navigating disability care.
Our amazing co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer, Tara Thompson, even donned a wig to bring the Barb persona to life. Thus, the “Barb by Kindship” app was born. Barb aims to save our families weeks of time and stress each year by ensuring everyone involved in care understands the evolving needs, aspirations, and goals of those they support. She keeps caregivers accountable and empowered, driving collaborative efforts to achieve individual healthcare outcomes.
Winning the 2nd prize from the National AI Centre includes $100,000 worth of research and development support from top Australian research institutes. This will be pivotal in bringing our vision to life 🚀
We are profoundly grateful to National AI Centre and Stone & Chalk for accelerating our journey. A huge shoutout to the jury for recognising Barb’s potential Annie Liao 🇦🇺 Belinda White Charles Guan Bhautik Joshi David McKeague Dayle Stevens OAM Jonathon Birrell Elea Wurth, PhD Jeremy Howard
