Highlights
2 weeks ago was my last day at Karat after five and a half years there. I joined when our team was 12 deep and left when it was 120, and a lot happened in that in between.
I’ll always be proud of the product I helped shape and grateful for the opportunities I had to learn and grow as a designer. But most of all I’m thankful for the people I collaborated with along the way.
I could fill a book with stories of everyone — from the early days working in coffee shops with Jeffrey and Mohit, pitching product roadmaps with Irena and Kevin, pondering the universe late at night with Neil and Anthony at the many Karat houses, picking new office color palettes with renee and Anna, plus many, many others — but I’ll leave that for another day.
For now though I just wanted to say it’s been an incredible ride and I feel beyond fortunate to have been a part of it for as long as I did. The team at Karat is going to continue doing awesome things and I’m excited to cheer them on, now from a new perspective.
As for me, I’ll be starting a new chapter next week building tools for SMBs at Facebook. Looking forward to connecting with folks in the FB squad soon!

Today would have been Breonna Taylor’s 27th birthday — if police hadn’t broken into her apartment and shot her 8 times in her sleep.
You can learn more about Breonna’s story and how you help at standwithbre.com, but it’s made me reflect on my own life at 27 and the opportunities I had that she’ll never get to experience.
27 was when I moved to SF to start as a Product Designer at a small startup called Karat. Since then, I’ve learned a lot about my craft, but maybe even more about how hiring works in tech. I’ve conducted hundreds of screens and interviews for designers, product managers, engineers, and several other core tech roles.
In memory of Breonna, I’m offering free career mentorship, portfolio reviews, and interview coaching for any black students or early career professionals who want it. If you or anyone in your network wants help advancing a career in tech, just send me an email at [email protected].
I realize this is just a tiny gesture, but it’s what I’ve got that’s unique to my story. Tech is still one of the most powerful vehicles we have for economic advancement, so if you need help breaking into the industry, please reach out. #blacklivesmatter
