Arizona State University’s Ten Across initiative will convene resilience and sustainability thought leaders and experts to foster collaboration and innovative solutions at its upcoming Ten Across Los Angeles Summit: The Future is Here, December 5-7, 2023.
Positioned on the front lines of demographic, social, economic, and climate change, the U.S. Interstate 10 corridor—from Los Angeles, to Houston, to Jacksonville—presents the most pressing challenges of the 21st century in their extreme providing opportunities to understand and cultivate more effective responses to the known future.
“Los Angeles and California provide an ideal setting for probing into issues challenging our country today—climate change, extreme heat and drought, energy transition, water, infrastructure, homelessness and affordable housing, and insurable risk—all issues the city and the state are tackling and, in some instances, leading the nation. There is much to be learned here,” says Ten Across Founder and Executive Director Wellington “Duke” Reiter.
The Los Angeles summit will leverage this singular transect as an opportunity to discuss these critical issues with subject matter experts; civic, government, and non-profit leaders; Academics and researchers; and industry trailblazers to reveal insights into innovative solutions and opportunities for action.
The summit program kicks off at ASU’s California Center on Tuesday, December 5 with a day of pre-summit workshops focusing on water data, heat resilience planning, and climate communications followed by an opening reception and fireside chat with Ron Brownstein, CNN Senior Political Analyst and Ten Across executive director Reiter on “The State of the Nation: Can we Build a Sustainable Future in a Time of Distrust?” at the City Club in downtown LA. Wednesday and Thursday, over 40 subject matter experts will participate in on-stage discussions examining, interrogating, and surfacing transformative insights to inform future resilience and sustainability decision and policy making. Throughout the summit attendees and featured speakers will have ample networking opportunities to provide further forums for discussion including a networking reception Wednesday evening on the Grammy Museum rooftop.
