Taylor Swift 🤝 Bollywood.

Well, kind of. Let me back up. I was a Spice Girl (Posh, obviously) for Halloween one year in high school. It was cute.

I think out of the other 3 Spice Girl outfits, 2 were also South Asian women.

We asked another woman in our grade - a white woman - to be a Spice Girl with us. She wrinkled her nose and said it was too weird that we were having all brown girls be Spice Girls when that's not what they looked like.

That had never occurred to me. I mean, I'm American and the Spice Girls were culturally relevant and, most importantly, I had just picked up my first Spice Girls CD (my first CD ever!) at a yard sale so I needed to commemorate this auspicious moment.

Anyways, we looked really cute and I think she regretted it when she came in in as a basic black cat and I was dressed, as best as I could at the time, head to toe like Victoria Beckham. ;)

At my brother's wedding two weeks ago I choreographed a Bollywood dance for all the bridesmaids to a Taylor Swift song and it was playful and magnificent and I kind of love that I got to remix a culturally relevant white woman with my brown roots.

(DM for full video lol).

Remembering when we shot the first scene of Lonely Girl on the last day of a two-day shoot, after midnight.

I was exhausted.

We shot on a set designed to look like a hospital room.

The scene was based off of something I actually experienced in a real hospital setting that was both funny and tragic.

The set was so perfectly designed that I was completely reliving all of the emotion and on the verge of a total freak out. Fun times.

Happy Friday! 😘
