No one has been more excited to see a recycling bin than the day I saw that blue bin on my stoop.

My side effects from recycling:  💚Way less bulk in our garbage + fewer garbage bags needed 💚Shock at how few plastic containers with the recycling symbol are actually recyclable for our neighborhood  💚Change in the brands we buy to recyclable alternatives (check your tofu containers!)  💚Creative approaches to reusing containers

For the environment, recycling conserves energy and natural resources. For individual people, it can help you be more conscientious about your daily food & sustainability choices. For me, I get a serious serotonin boost every time I recycle something correctly. We all have our reasons. Working with the fellow do-gooders at Grapevine Local Food Marketing definitely gave me the initiative to figure out recycling in my new city - I'm grateful to be inspired by them.

"If Facebook did transition to 50% remote work, it could expand the tech talent pool geographically and make it easier for tech companies small and large to find good people." Great, right? But there's a catch, and it's about #IncomeEquality.

While on the surface this sounds like a win for all and seems to fit into a solution for long-brewing resentment at rent increases in major coastal cities, it brings a new dimension to the #EqualPay conversation as well: "Facebook says it will adjust salaries to fit the location of the employee... But, to be fair, such an adjustment might be appropriate so long as the quality of life the two salaries can buy in different markets is equal."

If the size of your salary conventionally has been a reflection of your skill and seniority, this approach brings somewhat of a new definition into the fore: compensation as correlated to quality of life (as determined by your company and based on average costs of living?). I can see this creating more confusion about employees' sense of value in the workplace and create more conflict around women being compensated equally -- especially for #WomenInTech.
