🥂 6 months in as Head of Customer Success at Griffin, woah time has flown by!

In these 180 days, I learned tons and I wanted to share my top 3 learnings that anyone working in CS leadership can probably relate to.

1️⃣ Continuous Learning: I stepped into a whole new industry, specifically now that I work in banking (a heavily regulated industry). What I can say is it has been tough to get to grasps with it all, but my amazing colleagues have been nothing but helpful and patient with me as I continue to ask about new banking acronyms...if you thought SaaS had lots of acronyms well guess what banking has 2x more! I've also continue to learn more and more about customer success because the space of CS is constantly evolving. I have had to adapt my previous strategies to challenging dynamics of the world today in order to constantly deliver value to our customers.

2️⃣ Proactive Communication: This seems like a no-brainer, but when you work at a startup (especially a remote startup) there is nothing more important than to make sure you are communicating as much as possible. I was the first hire ever in CS at Griffin. I had to come in and explain what we are going to be doing with customers moving forward and I had to make sure everyone knew what was going on and that everyone saw the value. Regular and proactive communication builds trust and transparency and this is something that I try to do with both my colleagues and customers.

3️⃣ Empathy is Key: I've learned when launching our first customers empathy is key both internally and externally. Understanding the unique needs of each of my customers as the went live with our product was the reason I was able to really help and understand their business needs. It helped to build a stronger relationships with our customers but also by being empathetic with my colleagues lead to more of a collaborative approach to getting our customer live!

Bonus tip: Keep breathing. Working as a CS leader at any startup can be a lot to take on, especially in the first 6 months. Just keep on going, you've got this!

✍️ Would love to hear your thoughts. ♻️ Reshare if this helped you. 📨 Check out my newsletter if you want more of this content.
