Anjal Chande is a versatile artist excelling as a choreographer, composer, percussionist, writer, and performer, known for her innovative and introspective multidisciplinary dance creations.

She is recognized by The New York Times for her exceptional styling and by Time Out Chicago for her poetic and unconventional approach in contemporary bharatanatyam, expanding the boundaries of ethnic dance.

With a strong focus on self-reliance, Anjal pioneers a hands-on approach to her artistry, crafting her own prose, composing unconventional music, and infusing emotive expressions into her dance performances.

Anjal has showcased her talents at prestigious venues worldwide, including the Smithsonian’s CrossLines festival in Washington D.C., demonstrating her expertise as a contemporary bharatanatyam artist.

A dedicated learner, she has apprenticed under Hema Rajagopalan of Natya Dance Theatre, Chicago, and trained under esteemed gurus in India, enriching her skills and deepening her understanding of Indian dance traditions.

In 2007, Anjal founded Soham Dance Space, a nonprofit organization in Chicago, to create a community-focused hub for Indian dance, reflecting her expansive vision for the growth and evolution of this art form.
