Ann Harakawa

As Two Twelve Principal, Ann brings value to clients by designing strategic solutions to public information challenges.

Ann Harakawa is a seasoned professional with a diverse background spanning design, glassblowing, and graphic design. She started her journey by creating beachwear and working with glassblower Dale Chihuly. Ann further honed her skills by earning her MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University after attending the Rhode Island School of Design. As a 1982 Fulbright Scholar in Japanese Design, Ann's expertise in design is both diverse and profound.

Over the years, Ann has made significant contributions to various organizations and projects. Her tenure at Two Twelve as a Principal since 1994 showcases her commitment to using creative design strategies to solve problems and enhance social equity. Her portfolio includes collaborations with prestigious clients like Vanity Fair, David Rockefeller’s art advisors, PlaNYC, Hudson Yards, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and many more.

Despite being primarily based in NYC, Ann also actively manages the Honolulu office of Two Twelve, emphasizing her dedication to both communities. She played a pivotal role in developing the Transit Oriented Development Wayfinding Master Plan for O‘ahu while engaging with students through an annual summer workshop at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

Beyond her role at Two Twelve, Ann's influence extends to various boards and networks where she leverages her communication and design thinking skills. As a member of the Board of the Design Trust for Public Space, the Japanese American National Museum, and the Sterling Network NYC, she continues to contribute to enhancing economic mobility and fostering civic leadership.
