Highlights
As of this morning, August 22, Canadian Pacific Kansas City and Canadian National Rail have initiated a strike, poised to create significant ripple effects throughout North American supply chains. This strike will intensify the already high demand for trucking services, leading to tighter capacity, increased costs, and widespread delays.
The shortage of available trucks means that businesses must act quickly to secure alternative transportation solutions. Heightened competition and rising prices in the trucking market will impact the bottom line for many shippers.
With no clear end in sight, the unpredictability of this strike adds another layer of complexity. The longer it continues, the more severe the impact on both Canadian and U.S. transportation networks.
Companies need to proactively assess their supply chain vulnerabilities and risk and develop contingency plans. Communication and collaboration with logistics partners will be critical to navigating this disruption.
I’ll be closely monitoring the situation. What are you hearing? Please DM or book a call with me if you need to discuss it.

In any negotiation, the key to success lies in understanding the other party's perspective. It's the "what's in it for them?" persective.
This powerful approach shifts the focus from confrontation to collaboration, leading to better outcomes for everyone involved. It's truly about the "win/win."
I know there are those who feel like it's a losing proposition if the other side also wins. This approach drives me crazy because it is so short sighted. Building long term relationships and partnerships is how everyone grows and profits!
In a recent video I watched, this concept was beautifully articulated. The little kids is wonderful: when you make it clear how the other side benefits, you're not just negotiating; you're building a partnership. This mindset fosters trust, mutual respect, and long-term success.
Next time you're at the negotiating table, ask yourself, "What's in it for them?" and watch how it transforms the conversation.
