Hello friends, former colleagues, hiring managers and recruiters who are eager to meet end-of-year goals! I am looking for a product owner/product manager job.

TL;DR: I have many great qualities and will be an exceptional colleague, as long as we share the same values.

My values are: transparency, integrity, no bullshit and human(e) approach above all. As long as you share them and are looking for someone in Rotterdam-Den Haag region or remotely, let’s talk!

More about me:

I was an acting product manager for a small team responsible for translations & copy tooling & infrastructure at Booking .com. After leaving the company during the pandemic layoffs, I did some pro bono work (currently volunteering with Dutch Council for Refugees) and got a PSPO I certificate.

I love working with internal tooling, especially related to words (I hate the word «content»! but I guess you can say that I would be happy to work on a CMS). I also have a lot of more straightforward e-commerce optimisation experience from my time as a UX Writer («how can we increase conversion in this part of the funnel for this target group», or «how can we minimize customer service calls about pet policy»).

I am great at:

  • Holistic view. I will start digging into a small bug and will not rest until I know how the whole system works (unless, of course, there are other priorities);
  • Communication tailored to the stakeholder (buzz words from Company Mission and a lot of numbers to get a funding request approved; tech slang for talking with devs; no nonsense ‘what does it mean for you’ simple language for general audience);
  • Applying scientific method (A/B testing and all that jazz; worked with Experiment Tool team at Booking .com, educated UX writers about statistics, merged a specialised tool for running tests into a
  • Vision setting and team dynamic (including running regular retrospectives and ensuring my team is on board with what we are doing);
  • Research of any kind.

My ideal job is:

  • In person in Rotterdam, hybrid in Zuid Holland (or other places easily accessible from Rotterdam by public transport) or remote anywhere. Relocation to Japan is also an option.
  • For a company with a solid mission, responsible, focused on long term goals more than short term gains;
  • With smart people whom I can learn from;
  • Inclusive — not in its values, but in real life;
  • Where management on all levels trusts their employees.

I am also very open to working in Dutch. While my level is only B1+, that’s mostly due to a lack of practice. I use mostly Dutch at my volunteering gig and it goes well so far.

My full CV, as well as some case studies from my past, can be found on my website: https://www.aapopova.com/

A very good article (in Dutch) on how much autistic folk are struggling with interviewing process and what can be done to be truly inclusive. Read it. In the meantime, I will hide under my weighted blanket and try gathering my thoughts, as well as some courage to share my (mostly very sad) experience and ask for advice.
