Yesterday I had the pleasure of participating in the Asset Recovery CEE Conference in Warsaw organized by Bearstone The discussion topics, panels and audience were fantastic. I was honored to have been given the opportunity to moderate the panel ‘Offshore Jurisdictions – a New Era of Transparency?’, which featured the participation of the highly experienced and qualified specialists Anna Gumowska; @Rodrigo V.; and Andrew Stafford K.C. The discussion took the form of a business talk in which all of my colleagues shared their views on the important issue of transparency and UBO disclosure, gave their feedback to the issues that were raised and answered questions from the audience. It was all so interesting – thank you! Special thanks to Andrew Makatrewicz de Roy , who invited me to take part in the conference and is the inspiration for this whole story! I was also very happy to meet “old friends” --Iryna Kravtsova; Kateryna Gupalo; Anna Molotska; and Andrii Romanchuk. Andrew Makatrewicz de Roy please keep in touch. We hope next year’s event will be of the same scale or even bigger!

The first Ukrainian PE and VC Summit took place in Warsaw last Thursday, 21 March. I am certain that this was only the beginning, and enquiries have already been made about the date of the next Summit. We are looking forward to what the future brings!

The idea behind the initiative was to draw attention to Ukrainian/Polish business relations, discuss hot topics and exchange views on rebuilding initiatives. We considered it to be “a call for action” in support of Ukraine. All of the panels were amazing – the topics discussed, the diversity and calibre of the speakers, and the active role of the moderators were all very impressive. The message given by all the moderators and speakers was unanimous: there is no need to wait for the end of the war, business activities can start now!

My special thanks go out to experts Jacek Chwedoruk, Paweł Szreder, Andrii Nosok and Ruslan Furtas, who took part in the M&A panel that I had the pleasure of moderating. Thank you all so much for your presence and valuable contributions to the discussion!

This event would not have been possible without the hard work of Andrey Kolodyuk, Anna Wnuk, Barbara Nowakowska, Dmytro Kuzmenko, Elżbieta W. and the teams of Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (UVCA), PSIK, the Polish Private Equity & Venture Capital Association and Rymarz Zdort Maruta, and the support of Roman Nikitov, Michal Kramarz and our sponsors and partners ICU Ventures, Google for Startups in Warsaw and Phygit. Kudos to all of you! You were fantastic.
