What are we working for?

Tech diplomacy for me is simple: to make sure the technological future is safe, inclusive and meaningful, not just for our sake but for future generations’ whose lives will be deeply shaped by technology.

For a time being I’ll pivot my focus from tech diplomacy to the future generation 👶🏼 In a few weeks my husband and I will welcome our second child and I’ll be on maternity leave.

🇩🇰 tech diplomacy’s work on responsible AI governance, a safer cyberspace, the development of new technologies for better healthcare and climate action, a stronger technological Europe to make sure our continent remains relevant, have democracies set rules for big tech, ensure human rights are central in tech regulation and set boundaries for technology to make sure we remain human - for me it all comes down to the core question of what a digital future ought to be like for our children. Feeling a little one kicking inside of me everyday makes this work even more meaningful.

I’ll leave the reigns of the Office of Denmark's Tech Ambassador to my wonderful deputy Ditte Bjerregaard who will serve as acting tech ambassador and the entire TECH #dreamteam while I care for a new world citizen.

While I for a while will have to deal with missing the world’s best job, my incredible colleagues and cooperation with global partners, the Danish tech diplomacy is the strongest we’ve ever been. We’re welcoming six new colleagues this fall, gearing up our AI and quantum diplomacy, working tirelessly for reaching a strong #GlobalDigitalCompact at #UNGA this fall, strengthening our collaboration with trusted partners all over the world, working closer with NATO and allies on security political aspect of new tech all while preparing a strong tech diplomatic agenda for the Danish EU presidency in the fall of 2025.

I can’t wait to be back in 2025 and until then enjoy the wonder every new child always is ✨

Big 👏 to the team who will keep up all the great work for 🇩🇰tech diplomacy Martine Gram Barbry, Seemab Ghazal Sheikh, Louise Lund Henneberg, Christian Mogensen, Mia Møhring Larsen, Sameha Khugyani, Naja Møller Jørgensen, Troels Emil Andersen Boe, Mattis Keldmann Mørch, Mathias De Luca Piccin, Victor Fuhrmann Desimpelaere, Eric Thyrgaard and all the new colleagues joining us this fall 🚀

Today is Denmark’s Constitution Day 🇩🇰 175 years ago our first constitution laid the foundation to the strong democracy I am privileged to call home today.

But democracy in the digital age is not a given. We are witnessing an increase in threats against our institutions and the very tenets of democracy. In short - the challenge is not about what we do but who we are.

That’s why I spend 🇩🇰 Constitution Day in Riga, Latvia for NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence’s StratCom Dialogue. Today we discussed the importance of information integrity online, countering foreign influence campaigns, the risk of genAI disinformation and how to harness the power of technology and diplomacy for advancing democratic values.

Thank you Janis Sarts for a great event, reminding allies of what is at stake.
