She is a doctoral candidate pursuing a PhD in Food Science and Human Nutrition at Colorado State University, showcasing her commitment to advancing her knowledge and qualifications.

Annika has been associated with various organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), participating in Interdisciplinary Training, Education, and Research in Food-Energy-Water Systems, and the International Research Experience for Students.

Her previous roles include being a Biology Department Assistant at California Lutheran University and conducting independent research as part of the Swenson Summer Research Fellowship.
