Anthony Williams

Anthony James Williams is a PhD candidate, researcher, writer, editor, activist, and organizer with a strong focus on qualitative research, community engagement & outreach, teaching, curriculum development, social media engagement, writing, and editing. Their work spans across various publications and campaigns.

With a diverse educational background, Anthony holds a Certificate of Completion in the Actor Training Program from Solano Community College, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), a Master of Arts (MA) in Sociology from UCLA, a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Sociology from UCLA, a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Theatre & Performance Studies from UC Berkeley, and has studied Sociology abroad at the University of Cape Town.

They have been involved in impactful initiatives such as initiating the Afrikan Black Coalition's statewide prison divestment communications campaign, which garnered attention from major media outlets including Reuters, CNN Money, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, KQED, KALW (NPR Affiliate), and KPFA (local radio). Anthony is also a National Science Foundation Graduate Student Fellow in the Department of Sociology at UCLA.
