My family immigrated from Lebanon to the US fleeing the bloody civil war of the 1960s. I'm grateful they were able to create a future here in America.
But Lebanese history is nuanced and complicated. I'd encourage all to read past the headlines and understand what's really going on here.
Israel's conflict is not with the Lebanese people, and their campaign (although not the primary intention) may give Lebanon its first chance at peace in almost a century.
