Highlights
Privileged to attend Veolia’s Sustainable Futures Conference and the opportunity to be inspired by keynote speakers including Liz Bonnin.
“Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money”
A great opportunity to remember the bigger picture and the small part we play in Chinatown does make a difference. #sustainablefutures
#food #environment #recycling In March I initiated a food recycling scheme for our restaurants in Chinatown. Inspiring, encouraging and supporting non English speaking staff to take part and change their long-standing routines and procedures has been challenging and immensely rewarding. As the scheme has grown, I have observed and listened to feedback from front-line staff to understand the challenges they were experiencing. Working with Veolia UK and Westminster City Council we were then able to offer a bespoke solution which has led to continued monthly growth. Earlier this year, I was delighted to receive a Green Apple Environment Award but we still have a long way to go and I look forward to leading the project into a more sustainable future.
Huge thanks to Adem Kubilay, Jarno Stet and Jeyda Keski for your support.
