Do dreams come true?

Way back in Jun'15, I couldn't believe it at all whenever someone said, "Dreams come true." It's because one of my unimaginable dreams was to overcome stage fright and in the process become a #DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster).

Today as I fast-forward to Dec'23, this unimaginable dream did come true on 10th December 2023 as Gaurav felicitated me with the prestigious DTM pin at ToastFest. To know more about DTM, please refer to this page, which has everything mentioned about this coveted award - https://lnkd.in/gg7kpF-u.

And as I retrospect my journey, these learnings become evident:- • Belief in Yourself • Having reliable Mentors • Good Company is Important • Accept Feedback gracefully

Belief in Yourself:- I was so much in doubt of myself to continue in Toastmasters that I had to stop my AD (Area Director) journey of 2017-18 in Aug'17 just after 2 months of getting selected. Then I took a long break from Toastmasters of 1.5 years till Jun'19. By this time, I was able to see my downfall in confidence and commitment. And from Jul'19, I got myself reinstated as a Toastmaster and it's still on.

Having reliable Mentors:- We need dependable Mentor(s). For me, I needed a lot of them throughout my journey. I'm grateful to Garvit, who made me comfortable and guided me every single time during my initial Toastmasters days at my first-ever club. During my Club Extension journey and forward, Darshan, Prathima, and Jagrut were instrumental in giving me that platform and confidence to come out of my shell. Then when I joined Toastmasters again in Jul'19, Rupasree made me proactive again, and Rohan brought that spark back again in me and has been mentoring me through thick and thin. I'm so, so grateful to each one of you my dear Mentors - I have found a lot of strength and satisfaction from each one of you throughout.

Good Company is Important:- It is said that a person is known by the company he keeps. My precious Musketeers - Krishnesh and Sheetal. And my favorite Toastmasters who have extended their support and without whom this journey would have been tougher - Venkata, Prudvinath, Shefali, Ankita, Arjuna, Siddharth, Anant, Smita Mishra, Sutapa, BIKRAMJIT, Shruti, Pratik, and a lot of many others.

Accept Feedback gracefully:- Throughout my journey so far, believe me, I have received many feedback - some constructive, some critical. Yes, sometimes those critical feedbacks hurt me and throwed me into pits. But my superstars, my Mentors have pulled me out of that rut every single time. And they have groomed me to accept feedback gracefully so that I can work on myself and move on. We must accept all sorts of feedback gracefully as others' perspectives are also important, which we may not be able to purview or fathom.

My journey of life has just started as I continue to implement these learnings in my daily life. And #Toastmasters will be part of my life as well.
