As the negotiations formally started today in Ottawa I finally feel more optimistic than ever that we will solve the plastic pollution challenge in my lifetime. While there is a long way to go to reach agreement to a global treaty we now have government, industry and NGO leaders working together.

💰A key reason for my optimism- 160 financial institutions representing 15.5 USD trillion in combined assets are advocating for an ambitious international legally binding instrument that enables the role of finance from all sources, public and private.

Here’s more about the Finance Statement calling on governments for an ambitious plastic agreement that supports the private finance sector in taking action to end #PlasticPollution
