April Frazier Camara, Esq. is a legal professional with a wealth of experience in justice reform efforts at national and local levels. Having worked with prestigious organizations like the American Bar Association in Washington, D.C. and Legal Action Center in New York, NY, she has advocated for alternative sentencing and reentry reform. With a background as a public defender, April brings firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by disadvantaged communities, having represented individuals in the criminal justice and juvenile justice systems for eight years. Her unique blend of direct client representation and policy advocacy has led her to work on systems change efforts in both Washington, D.C. and Memphis, TN.

April has also been deeply involved in conducting trainings and providing technical assistance to various national and federal organizations such as the American Bar Association, National Center for State Courts, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and more. Her expertise extends to academia, where she has served as a guest lecturer at George Washington University Law School, Howard University School of Law, and the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law.

April Frazier Camara's educational background includes a J.D. from Howard University School of Law and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Tennessee State University. She has held key roles in organizations such as the National Legal Aid & Defender Association and Purpose Wealth Legacy. April's vast professional experience also includes positions like Director of Defender Legal Services Initiatives, Special Assistant in the Juvenile Defense Unit, and Deputy Director of the National H.I.R.E. Network.
