I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Country Director & Project Manager at Swisscontact-Uganda! My time here at Swisscontact Bangladesh is coming to an end as I transition into a new role within the organization. I wanted to take a moment to bid you all farewell and express my gratitude for the incredible journey we've shared. During my time with the BMMDP project at Swisscontact Bangladesh, we reached significant heights in the agricultural microinsurance sector. During this journey, we directly and indirectly reached approximately 1.8 million farmers across the country, with over 1 million farmers purchasing crop and livestock insurance products. The total value of sum insured crossed CHF 239 million, leading to 154,648 farmers receiving payouts worth more than 1 Million CHF. Additionally, 616,720 farmersvapplied climate-friendly farm management practices. We collaborated with 34 partners to promote crop and livestock insurance, resulting in the introduction of 27 new/improved insurance products. Furthermore, our efforts triggered threefold the planned volume of finance, showcasing our substantial impact. We focused on addressing the risk mitigation needs within Bangladesh's agricultural sector, introducing and establishing viable insurance products and distribution methods to bridge the gap in risk management for farmers. Despite the challenges faced during this phase, such as those brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and setting up the project with the host country government, our commitment to innovative solutions within the microinsurance landscape remained unwavering. The external assessment validated our success in introducing new commercially feasible products and distribution models, laying a solid foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth in the country's microinsurance market. I am happy to note moving forward, the new phase of BMMDP will adopt a more systemic approach, utilizing interesting tools like the Challenge Fund and Climate Risk Resilience Fund (the first of its kind in the world) without compromising the need to facilitate a conducive regulatory environment. I leave Swisscontact Bangladesh and BMMDP with peace of mind that the team I am leaving behind is capable and ready to deliver these ambitions with even greater vigor. Please know, I will be following and cheering for your success from wherever I am. I also want to acknowledge the support and guidance that we have received from the donor and our implementation partners. Now, as I embark on a new chapter as Country Director at Swisscontact-Uganda, I carry with me the invaluable experiences and lessons learned from our time together. While I may be physically distant, please know that I will always hold each of you in high regard and cherish the memories we've created together. On this holy month of Ramadan, I also ask for your forgiveness if my conduct has hurt you in any way. I also seek your dua for my upcoming professional and personal life
