Highlights
Today I would like to honor Lakshmi Priya Ramisetty and Tharun Prabhakar, who have just completed their summer internship with Finserv Experts. Lakshmi and Tharun were assigned the task of analyzing the detailed language of the EU AI Act, and extracting from its 400 pages the complete set of operational capabilities that companies need to evidence compliance with its regulations.
Opinions differ on whether these mandates represent good policy, but regardless of any particular views on the topic, the EU AI Act may be one of the most readable and well-thought-out pieces of legislation it has ever been my honor to have read – its authors have a very clear view of what they are trying to achieve.
Nevertheless, it was no small task to review the law in detail, identify the individual requirements, and place them within a framework that actually lets people work with them. This is something that Lakshmi and Tharun did a very good job with, and Finserv Experts is truly grateful for their contribution.
Lakshmi and Tharun are both already accomplished data scientists, and are further developing their expertise by completing a masters in AI at Yeshiva University, working under the tutelage of our good friend and colleague. professor Jiang (Jay) Zhou, PhD. So they will bring to the table not only being taught AI by one of the best in the business, but a deep working knowledge of how to craft solutions that are compliant by design. Anyone looking to bring such expertise on board would be truly fortunate to have them.
I was quoted recently in a Business News Daily article that surveys the use cases of AI in the insurance industry...
