Ariana Davarpanah is a dedicated second year transfer student at Stanford University majoring in Political Science.
Before Stanford, she excelled at the College of San Mateo, earning an AA-T in Political Science and an AA in Social Science with honors.
During her time at Stanford, Ariana interned at the Immigration Policy Lab and CESTA, showcasing her commitment to political studies.
She has actively supported incoming transfer students by working as a student assistant and will be a co-lead for Transfer 101 this Fall.
Ariana demonstrated strong leadership skills at the College of San Mateo, serving as a Student Senator, Advocacy Board Chair, and president of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.
Her leadership roles allowed her to advocate for equity through various projects and analysis of legislative bills.
With experience working on political campaigns, Ariana combines her academic pursuits with practical involvement in politics and voluntarism.
Ariana also hosts a podcast on the college transfer process, offering valuable insights and advice to students navigating transfers.

On my first day of high school, I came home and burst into tears. The day had taken such a toll on me that I could not possibly imagine going back to the same place for four more years.
On my first day of college, I drove home wondering how I was possibly going to survive calculus, zoology and chemistry - three subjects I despised (spoiler alert: I didn't).
On my first day of University, I logged in to classes at Stanford from my bedroom, 20 minutes away from campus, because we were right in the middle of the pandemic.
then, on my last day of University, when I turned in my final final, and realized I wouldn't have to do school again - ever - I thought back to the very first day of high school where I felt that there was no way I'd ever be able to make it through so many difficult days. I'd never even let myself dream that I could make it to the place where I was standing on that last day of Uni.
What I learned over the course of that process is that we are genuinely the only ones who can determine the outcomes of our lives. While no one can ENSURE they'll be a student at a specific school, or land a specific job, we can make decisions (over and over again) that will allow us to become the kinds of people who could get there.
I know a lot of you are starting classes right now. There's so much noise. Some people's first days are going to look a lot like mine did, others might already be stressing about the next batch of internships to apply to. I want to remind you that no matter what you're feeling, you do have a say in what you do with those emotions, and with your reality. You can use these days, weeks and years to make yourself the kind of person who could - and that will eventually feed into making you the type of person that did.
