I've been researching the well being of creatives more intentionally by watching the types of videos "content creators" are putting out and in short, there are tons of miserable burnt out folks looking to keep doing what they love in a way that feels better. Many people agree that a simple way to achieve creative freedom is to just focus on making what you love and buck the system.
Not coincidentally, when I started doing what would become called content creation, producing outside of a system was the way I learned and thrived as well. The world needs more independent voices to keep the inspiration flowing and those innovators need to keep revising the system. So me personally I'm permanently going back to my origins from when the "VLOG" first came out. I've done so much work documenting the making of many other artists projects, it's time I gave myself the same treatment.
This first vlog is a bit of an outline for how I want to create my first TV broadcast docuseries. I've partnered with WABE to produce a docuseries called "How to be a Dope Artist" that highlights the history of Atlanta's artist-led culture, globally recognized for it's consistent influence. In my experience as an artist who has lived in this city for close to 20 years, you can't tell the story right without mentioning Castleberry Hill f.k.a Snake Nation.
Over the next 60 days, I'm opening a window into the journey of showrunning in an artful way. I believe artists can get a lot done working better within systems as opposed to outright rejecting them, so I'm really looking forward to how all this new art will turn out.
