Highlights
I’m honoured to accept the Mayor’s appointment to the Board of Directors of Transport for London. TfL is one of the most extensive transport systems in the world, facilitating over 31 million journeys every day, across Buses, Underground, Elizabeth Line, Overground, DLR, Trams, Coaches, Cable Car, Dial-a-Ride, Roads, Taxis, River Services, Walking, and Cycling. With a target that 80% of journeys will be made by walking, cycling or public transport by 2041. With over 5,500 acres of land, TfL is also one of London's largest landowners. TfL's property company, Places for London, is untapping the potential of that land to improve existing properties and build 20,000 new homes. I’m excited to support the TfL team in building solutions for a more sustainable city.

In “a day or two”, a 23-year-old architecture student designed one of the most recognisable symbols in the world. One that has been used, abused, and printed on billions of products each year. The recycling symbol ♻️.
Gary Anderson was responding to a design competition brief. His winning submission was inspired by the Möbius Strip — a mathematical concept representing continuity and connection. Gary's design featured three arrows in a continuous loop, intended to represent “both the dynamic (things are changing) and the static (it’s a static equilibrium, a permanent kind of thing).”
