Day 2 of publishing an ebook 📘 Progress so far and questions 👇
Yesterday, I shared that I'm trying to publish a short book called "The 80/20 of Managing Remote Teams" → Why publish and not write? Because I had written already ~20k words back in 2021 on this topic. Now, my idea was to repackage/repurpose the existing content into a Kindle ebook. → Yesterday/today, I copied the content from the original gdoc into the the online editor to start structuring. → Lesson learned: Different formats (email course vs. ebook) have completely different writing styles/cadences/conventions (paragraphs vs. bullet points; etc.) and that means, I have to re-write pretty much the entire thing. → I'll be honest, I thought I could wrap this project up in a week. ... well, ain't gonna happen. It's too much work 🤦♂️ ... but, let's see how long this will take in the end.
The screenshot below is my outline in the free online editor by reedsy (h/t Paul for the reco) → So far, pretty good UX/UI (easy to structure via sections/chapters & automated Table of Contents [ToC]; easy export into epub format) → I tried to write the chapter titles as action titles so that the ToC could be used as a summary/reference for the reader
